# What happens when a booking expires?

> Understand what happens to unconfirmed booking requests.

## Overview

If you are using the Request and Confirm booking mode, unconfirmed bookings will expire after a set time period to prevent stale appointments from cluttering your dashboard.

## What happens

* The booking status changes to Expired
* The customer is not notified automatically
* The time slot becomes available again

## Recommended action

Follow up with the customer directly if a booking expires. They may still be interested in scheduling.
