# How does duration selection work?

> Configure how long appointments are when your AI books them.

## Overview

You can set default appointment durations that your AI receptionist uses when scheduling bookings.

## How to configure

**1.** Go to **Settings** then **Bookings** in your dashboard.

**2.** Under Duration, set your default appointment length.

**3.** If you offer different services with different durations, you can configure per-service durations.

## How it works during a call

When a caller requests a booking, your AI will use the appropriate duration for the service they are enquiring about. This ensures your calendar blocks out the correct amount of time and avoids overlapping appointments.
